SOT Application Day

November 28, 2018 0 Comments
Yay i am back to the blogging realm!!

Anyway, i really enjoy blogging because i got so much thoughts in my head. all the time! haha...think there are a 101 things inside, always. That's why i am usually day dreaming, as i am mostly thinking of some other random things. Is that why Dan tagged me this on fb?

So what have i been doing the past few days?

The past week, when i wasn't blogging, has been rather fufilling, did quite alot of things in a short one week. Shall share it here, as i tend to forget where i went before in my life...so it will be good to record it here so that i can look back!:)

Last Tuesday, my family went to Nihon Mura, as they were having their $1 per plate promotion. As far as i know, this promotion has been ongoing for about 2-3 years. And i totally forgot about it, till my sister recalled. (tsk at memory haha)... $1 per plate to the AGE you are. The catch is, it has to be on your birthday, or one day before or after your birthday.

As my dad is 69, we got to order 69 plates at $1!! It was the best feeling ever, to be able to order without thinking of the price, plates and plates of sushi, sashimi, maki and desserts. We truly enjoyed it. Would love to go back again! The Douby Ghaut Cathay branch serves really good food! :)

Look at the number of plates! Nihon Mura@Cathay

Two person i love most in my life. Please stay happy and healthy always!

On Thursday, I went to Honest Bee Habitat after work with a sister in Christ, PS! It was a good time of chatting at a deeper level, and i enjoyed it! :) Thank you for bringing me there to experience it as i missed it the previous time. The pancakes was really soft and fluffy. It was so insta-worthly that i have to post it here, too.

The prettiest pancakes

On Friday, my company brought us to Apple. And we visited their OneNorth and retail branch. Some lovely pics with my colleagues!

Mixed Grill in Apple@OneNorth. It tasted really delicious! Felt so privileged to be able to go to visit Apple! :)

Happy colleagues! :) Taken by the professional who taught us how to take good natural photos. :)

Oyes, last Saturday, we went to Bowling@Mt Faber Safra! Oman, i can't bowl for nuts. not loving it at all, but well, at least i can watch Dan bowl and support him! Went there totally due to love for him. hahaha!

Then we also went to my sister's best friend wedding at RWS ballroom. Can you believe the Aquarium below is her Bridal bedroom?? OceanSuite. =X!!! It was so gorgeous, and it cost $2200/night. Haha she got 2 nights free for having her wedding there!! Felt it was really special and pretty amazing, especially for a newly wed couple. It is super romantic!! For those who are getting married soon, maybe you can book your venue @ RWS! :)

Last weekend, Pei and sister came to my house for the first time to play board games!! Really had a fun night together. I am not really a big fan of board games like Dan, but i don't mind playing with both of you all the time!! HAHA can catch up and play! :) Maybe i will turn into board game lover after this!! Then we can utilise the board game collection my hubby has. Yay!! Please come to our house more - both of you! :)

Lastly, to leave you with some humorous pics i received.

Haha! so cute, this look like me.

YOLO food. Have been ordering food in at work as GrabFood is having a discount (up to 50% even), so it is really affordable.

SOT 2019
LOL i just remembered i wanted to blog about all the intense feelings about SOT Application!

I finally applied and sent in all the documents!! Omy, after weeks and months of thinking whether to go...hesitating and praying about it, (irritating Pei and sister and dan and mil), i finally decided to take the step of faith and go!!

Like someone told me, if God can do it once for you, He will definitely do it another time for you. So i should not worry, but trust God fully for the miracles He will be doing in my life! Anyway, He has been so good to me, providing me with what i need deep inside...all these while. I should really believe and have faith for greater things to come, as i obey and learn more about His word and Him!

Having my interview this Sunday afternoon. Praying that i will be able to be open and share, and the outcome will be what God thinks is the best for me. Your will be done, and not mine God...

Midweek everyone. Jiayou!! :)

Love,
Auntie Fung :)

New initiative + thoughts on Comparing kids.

November 15, 2018 0 Comments
Yes and so I was resolved since the start of this week, to be more initiative at work after the constructive criticism, instead of just doing the daily operational work..

Just to clarify, I was very initiative when I was 23-25 years old okay....this is just a phase in life, where you start to be comfortable in your job, and happy to do the fixed repetitive stuffs well, and there is less motivation to do more. I am sure everyone gone through this stage in life right? NO. haha, I sound like I am a 50 years old, all ready for retirement! =)

Anyway, I started talking about initiative so that you will forget that I actually missed one day in the blogging challenge. But I said #80daysblogging challenge, not #80daily blogging challenge right? LOL, ok fine, finding excuses is my gift. just joking!

But seriously, blogging daily when you are working full time is hard!! Yesterday I was just too engrossed in watching Brooklyn 99 with Dan and really couldn't pull myself to blog. I really enjoyed this show's humour! Recommended for lame humorous people like me!

WORK

OK so work plays a very important part in my life. Other than providing me with financial power, it is also highly important as I will always be talking about work - after work, to my sister or Pei, so it deserve a section in my blog post every now and then.

My sister always tells me how heavily invested my emotions are to work, as I will always have loads of stories to tell her. And after I switch to a job? I will totally forget about the feelings felt in the old workplace, and move on completely.

So yes, back to initiative, I had a breakthrough today!! I actually took time to explore video making, and made a 35seconds video for workplan. I was really glad, that I decided to face my weakness and took her criticism positively. Thanks to good friends too, who were willing to talk sense into me and hear things out.

Things has been better this week, as I try to take on a more leadership role and is willing to put in extra work.:) TYJ.

The video-making tool which I am going to introduce is none other than POWTOON.

This video making tool is really useful! At least for a newbie like me, it was like a jewel dropped from heaven. I was able to learn how to cut the videos, put in characters into the clip, and make a very cute and interesting video!!  There are several scenarios which you can choose from and edit the template accordingly. You can definitely learn to do it! WHY? Because, if I can do it, nobody can't. Serious! Highly recommended for all to use to impress your colleagues at work.

Take note that one free user account can only do a 3minutes video, and the Pro+ items can only be made available for 3-4days. Anything more, you have to pay some money.

I will update the video here, after presentation in Dec18, since it is suppose to be a secret as at now. :)

COMPARISON WITH OTHER CHILD

Anyway, today I chatted with someone and the conversation went something like this:

X: I have a son who is doing very well academically, but my daughter is abit slower...I am not sure why. I am really worried for her!
Me: Hmm..Maybe she is a late bloomer? Different children are different, cannot compare one... different people has different strengths and weaknesses...
X: But, my son can get bursary every year, but, I dunno, they are just so different.
*trying my best not to get emotional*
Me: Let me see, what are your daughter's strengths?
X: OH *lights up a little*, she is good at cooking...and doing housework...(she is like only 10 years old!)....just like me (Mr X), I also started learning how to cook when I was 7..*pride on his face*... my wife taught her how to cook, and she is the elder sister you see..
Me: Yea, I am sure she will grow up to be very filial daughter!! Most important trait in a child is confidence and kindness, you know...
*Praying in my heart that he can get the point I am getting at*
X: Yea I would think so...but my son, the grades are better....
...

Awww... does this story sounds familiar to many? I can totally understand this situation as this is exactly what happens in the real world.

Often, we will compare the brighter child with the others, and favours them. This will slowly erode the confidence of the second child, and you start wondering why the second child is less confident and seem "weaker". This is so, because  you fail to see the goodness in him/her, and all the comparison of how the older brother/older sister/cousin/neighbour does so well, why other people's kids can do it and you can't only make it worse.

I strongly believe that this would do great damage to a child's self-esteem. Most of the time, i would just like to scream into their face and say "EXCUSE ME, PLEASE STOP COMPARING YOUR CHILDREN A WITH CHILDREN B. BOTH ARE GOOD! AS LONG AS THEY ARE HEALTHY, AND MAYBE PASS ALL THEIR EXAMS, IT IS GOOD ENOUGH, REALLY. NO ONE CARES ABOUT GRADES IN THE END, IT IS THE CHARACTER, CONFIDENCE, ABILITY TO THINK ON THE SPOT WHICH MAKE SOMEONE SOAR AND DO WELL AT WORK. PLEASE ENCOURAGE THE OTHER KID AND TRY TO LOVE THEM TOO? HOW UNLOVED WILL YOU FEEL IF I START COMPARING YOU WITH OTHER PEOPLE'S PARENTS??? ARE YOU REALLY THE BEST PARENT FOR ME? IF I DON'T JUDGE YOU BUT LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART, THEN I HOPE YOU WILL LOVE ME THE WAY I AM TOO. (helping to stand up for these kids who may be too young to express themselves)

OK I take back the 3rd last sentence. but yea you get my point. Parents, please(begging you)..please try to look at your kid's strengths. (I highly do not believe there is none) Filial, polite, respectful, nice, helpful, kind, responsible. These are all intangible qualities that shouldn't be overlooked.

Sorry for the emotions. I just feel really strongly about this topic. =(

Maybe, if we want to motivate the kid to do well, use other methods rather than comparison? Any other ways except comparing with that brother/ that sister/cosuin. I really believe that comparison does NOT HELP.

Well...on another hand, maybe I am not a parent yet, so I can't understand why parents will favour the brighter kids always initially...but I hope that I would be able to see both child's strengths and weaknesses, if I become a mother. I also hope that I can help both kids to improve and do good in their lives.

But yes, I agree that parents' job is tough definitely, because there is no guidebook to how to be the best parent. And yes, all parents want the best in their children.

Just expressing my thoughts, as a child who went through it all.
