Working in a new company!

May 27, 2015 0 Comments
ok back to posting after a really long break.. what has changed so far?

I quit my job in the school due to some turn of events...and now i am working in a US company!

It took me quite a while to get back on my feet because i keep on missing work in SJI, and can't get over the fact that i really ended my dream job. >< my first permanent job that i loved so much. that i actually had plans to stay until 80 years old. lol.

Even as i am writing now...i wonder if i can work there one day.

Now i fully understand the meaning of don't live in the past, or you won't treasure the present. I had been living in the past for the past 4-5 months...not seeing the blessing that God has put in front of me. MNC, woodlands..so close to my house.. and a good pay. arghh.

But from today onwards, i am going to be strong, and pull myself together. I don't want to keep on feeling sleepy and waste my life away sleeping on my bed. Everyone just need 7-8hours of sleep..but i can sleep up to 15hours during the weekend! Haha. i wonder if i am a pig.

Not my will, but yours be done. I will leave my life for God to decide. where i will go, how my life will turn out... because He has a plan for me! and in Romans 8:28, it says "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose." Jiayou myself!:)

updates after 2 years of working life!

July 20, 2014 0 Comments
Alright, so I am at home blogging because I am down with bronchitis and not exactly well enough to go out now..

Some updates on life, work has a bit less hectic with the GIRO system finally up and running. There are so many different types of ppl at work and i really thank God for the wisdom and firmness to handle difficult situations(difficult to imagine I know as I am usually such an un-serious person :P), as well as His protection over me..

Being someone who likes to observe since young, I realised that many a times, we are disappointed with the people around us because they do not respond according to what we want/wished they would. As such, we get very upset with them, wondering why they can't understand this and that (when it is so obvious to us - such as needs of woman/colleagues/parents/friends/any other situations), why they can't behave the way we want them to behave.

Of course, I am not saying that I am definitely right or I am better than the rest (I am just as imperfect and also have my own set of weakness to work on), but these are just some random thoughts.

It all boils down to this one problem. Level of expectation we placed on others.

As everyone of us has one brain, it is inevitable that conflicts occur. Even if you put the most "perfect" two people together, there is bound to be conflicts/clashes in terms of opinions. Either due to different way of up bringing/different type of habits/ideas/convictions and this list is non exhaustive.

One thing we have to try to understand is that everybody is entitled to their own opinions/beliefs. What right do we have to judge them, even if you really dislike what he/she is doing/detest the person/look down on them.

By judging the person, do you think that you are actually better/more perfect as a person? Is there no flaws and weaknesses in your own life?

I believe many of us have our own set of flaws too. Me, for one, knows without doubt that I am imperfect. In fact, i feel that i am the most imperfect person ever, without much intelligence in the area of academics, concepts or theories, general knowledge.

People who are much smarter will definitely feel that I am someone who is simplistic/not much of a brain. They have directly told me that I was "brainless", "foolish", "simpleton", "worse piece of shit in life" countless times earlier in my life. (I know this may seem hard to swallow because how can it be? when I am smiling most all the time.)

Does it hurt? of course it does! Even so when I am a person whose primary love language is words of affection, with not much of visible talents to begin with.

But what can I do? Hate all of them? Whine and complain about them, and fill myself with resentment and hatred? (this is extremely unhealthy as cooped up unforgiveness will just lead to trouble and pain of our own soul) I recognised humbly that well, maybe they are right, and try to improve myself each day, bit by bit, knowing that as long as I keep trying my best, and not give up, I will always have a chance.

In fact, I am still learning everyday, trying to make sense of why people behave the way they do. (through recognised personality test/evaluation of the test/why male and female behaves different/how i can be more aware of my weakness and improve it/etc etc)

These are the areas I am extremely interested in, and i realised that when i have a better understanding of the other person's "point of view"/"style"/"character", and of myself (analysing why i react the way i do, why a certain type of actions caused me to react so angrily, how i can better handle conflict, how i can be less harsh and a better communicator) i would be able to empathise and all these will eventually make me a better person! :)

Ok so what's my point? My point is that nobody is the same as you. Nobody will think and behave in the EXACT manner as you imagined and hope in your mind. Nobody owes you a living. Nobody owes you happiness. We got to make a CHOICE to be happy.(through whatever ways you like)

I will always remember what my pastor said, when bad things happen to us, we should blame no one/no situations/genes/whatever, but yourself, and try to think of ways to improve it. It's in him that i see one of the most humble, broken down person, a person who treat every soul with respect and love. (even when people hate him to the core, curse his family, ridicule him, wrote such nasty comments about him, do everything they can to discredit what he has done for the Lord, He still stands firm in his faith, believing that God wants all of us (try! though difficult) to love everybody, even if they are different from you. :D

For those who are married, please do treasure your husband. (even if they get onto your nerves all the time) They might always go into "zone off" or "cave" moments/not be able to "auto" do what we want/wish, but come on, everyone has some good in them! It's just a different set of style we need to get used to (which is difficult i know, because my boyfriend happens to be a man. :P so yes, i am still reading up on why and how to be a more supportive partner.) Isn't it already a blessing that someone loves you for who you are, to the extent he marries you? (and is still faithful as of now.) We need to be better partners too! to learn how to bring out the best in him.

Human are so complex, different and interesting. i am still learning as of now! :)

Haha. Alright, time to go rest after eating the medicine that has side effects of hands trembling and heartbeating so fast.

God bless me to be healed soon!! Be strong and goodnights everyone! :D

Updates after 1 year 9 months of working life..

May 17, 2014 0 Comments
How time flies! It seems not long ago that I just started on my accounting career.. wondering if I could handle all the politics, workload, colleagues..

Thankfully, as I totally depended on Him in the area of work, the favour with people and wisdom that I never had before just flow naturally! pray that it will continue to be this way and I will not make any mistakes!

The past few months at work has been really hectic.. with the implementation of the GIRO system(in charge), automated system, 2013 year end closing, month end closing, auditors coming to check our accounts, 2013 massive clean up of fixed asset + filing from 1988-2010(in charge), on top of additional receptionist work.. LOL you can imagine how busy we were. I even had to bring work home during the weekends to do!! >< haha this is something i told myself I will NEVER EVER do as work is work, and it shouldn’t pollute my happy life. Hahaa but oh well..

However, what kept me going all these 5 months is knowing that all things WILL work together for the good, in the end. Just that the end seems so far away sometimes..

But YAYY the worst is over I believe! Due to over exhaustion and my body screaming for me to stop OT-ing so much, I have decided, it’s time to shift my focus! Back to my health. Resting more at home..sleeping and eating more as my friends has commented that I am looking very tired and weak recently.

SOOO, goodbye to overtime and hello to my new life!!:)

Here are some things I am really looking forward to:

-receiving my BYOD to purchase a laptop for work, in June
-July govt bonus!
-going Australia in June!=D

OMGGG I am so excited now that I think my body battery is recharging at a rate of 0.1% per hour! :)

20 more work days to my trip!=DD

HEHEHEEE. Fruits of hardwork is really sweet!!:) LOL oops I forget to add that next Monday is our month-end closing deadline and I am nowhere close to finishing at this point of time when I am blogging. ><

But who cares? It will be alright in the end, it will!!:D

Hee, ok some pics from my jb trip with my cell grp friends, the first and where we had so much fun together! The best part is dinner, where we ordered so much food (3 plates of veggies, 1 sweet and sour pork, 2 plates of stingray, satay, chee chiong fan, ma bo tofu, drinks, etc) and it only cost us $9.50 each. SUPER CHEAP and YUMMY! (one of the open area coffee shop near KSL) It is really delicious, worth going!

:)

oh yes, I just set up a new bank account! Going to try to hit my goal of saving $20K! (after paying off my commitments)..excited!:) 

On a more serious note, some thoughts on money.. I feel that, as long as you are healthy, works hard, saves money, buy some insurance, there is seriously no need to worry about how the future is going to turn out.

I get especially sleepy when people talks about how difficult it is to pay off car expenses, house expenses in this country. E.g: Imagine a BTO house cost about $250,000+ and a car cost $............., a baby cost $.........., and your salary is only $2k-$3k..etc..

Of course, I don’t deny that planning is important, but worrying and having depressing thoughts like how many more years we must slog (with our miserable pay) to pay off the loans, how we can never earn enough to live a comfortable life.. how the government is cheating us of our money through CPF and through many other ways..is NOT GOING to make your life any better! Instead, it will only make you miserable, unappreciative, and resentful every day.

Unless you can do something about it, such as try to earn more money through specialisation in skills, migrate, vote for opposition, study super hard and rise to a position where you can make changes to this system, etc.. I really see no point complaining and making yourself feel sad.

At the end of the day, you never know when you will leave this world. When sickness may struck you, when something unfortunate may happen, when everything will end. Do you really think you can live till 65 years old? (talking to people around my age)

At this point of time in life, with so much news about deaths every day, how people get run down by vehicles, how a ferry can just sink with hundreds of lives in it, how a plane can go missing, it makes me realise one thing:

Life is way too unpredictable.

Stop thinking that you have lots of time left to live in the world! You don’t. In fact, we all don’t know when our last goodbye is.

Maybe I am a morbid person, but even as I write this blog post, I am wondering if it could be my last. When I go to work/go overseas/do anything, I do it to my best/as happy as I can/prepare as if it is my last, and try to impact whoever is around me (good things I hope!)

Why? so that I will not regret. So that if I were to just suddenly disappear from people’s life, I know that I have done my best. My best in everything, and God is happy with me. :D Hopefully I will be missed abit!:D

Of course, I wish to have more time on Earth.. but well, time is not something we can control..

So cherish your life from this moment, count your blessings (good health is one) while you are alive and try to make yourself HAPPY=)

Be strong everyone! Spring will always arrive, after winter. ALWAYS.

Have a great week ahead everyone! :)

*down with flu, but still feeling grateful..pray that I recover soon!*

End of 2013..Happy 2014!

January 01, 2014 0 Comments
Today is the first day of 2014.. shall talk about some awesome things that happened in 2013.. and new resolutions for the year!

As some of you might know, 2011 and 2012 was one of the most challenging and darkest period of my life. Many things happened..which shocked many of my friends.. I almost lost my health, my studies achievement, my friends. This part of my life shall be shared in future when I feel that I am more ready. For those who went through it with me, I hope I didn't scare you..and thank you for still believing in me and not forsaking me.

In some ways, it was a blessing in disguise. At least all the pent up anger, unfairness, bitterness I used to feel subconsciously throughout my whole life, was released. Friends and family are all so much more supportive from then on, knowing that I am not the "LUCKY girl with zero problems in life", an inaccurate image that I always seem to potray due to smiling all the time. :P

and so, 2013 was indeed a year I felt SOOO thankful, after realising that health, was actually the most important thing in our lives. The thing that we take for granted all the time, but is actually so crucial to us. Really, if you think about it, it's the ONLY thing that can really bring you down. Losing your health due to sickness. All other problems are actually temporary and can be overcomed! With that important lesson learnt after my series of unfortunate experiences, all the other problems became so much smaller suddenly..

Firstly, I really want to thank God for a second chance to live..It's hard to express in a short blog entry, how grateful I am that I am healed...just being able to smile again, to work and earn money, to be able to go out with friends. It made me see life in a whole new different way.. I pray that no one have to go through what I went through, and for those who did, I am sure there is a reason for that. Maybe one day we can use it to encourage others not to give up, not to feel resentful and try to be grateful for what you have!

In addition to that, here are some other things to thank God for in 2013:

-Finding a job in a school! (my dream to join a govt organisation - or well, one that follows the govt pay scheme:) )

-Having great colleagues that joined the company in June to cheer me(after 4 months of challenging times)

-New cell grp friends who are all super awesome and nice!:)

-Lots more meet ups with pri sch, sec sch, jc, uni friends

-Better rship with family (although I must really spend more time at home in 2014!)

-Finally, a supportive BFF aka BF. =) feels Xin fu to have a best friend cum soulmate that loves me alot and can tolerate my ups and downs.. <3 ..="" br="">
Resolutions for 2014: Trust God more in the area of career and love life..

Time to sleep..Wishing everyone a super AWESOME 2014, and with good health always! Stay blessed :)

What city harvest church means to me

August 31, 2013 0 Comments
With the whole court case saga surrounding this mega-church, I am sure many of you have lots of your own opinions on the church. Some of you might even once be members of this family, but have since left due to valid reasons, conflict of ideas, or just didn't like the spirit of 'giving' that the church seems to advocate.

Well, since this is my blog, I suppose I am free to write..what CHC has done for me, without having to worry about how it is going to offend anyone. Afterall, it's just my version of the story, and no one needs to agree with me. In fact, you can continue to think that all CHC supporters are silly, have too much money to spare, or are brainwashed. But maybe, before you judge us harshly, you could be open-minded enough, to hear another side of the story, of just 1 of the many, that has been impacted by the love of the church.

7 years ago, I came to this church with my friend..It was Easter day, and the first time I attended a church. I wasn't expecting anything to change, although deep inside, I wished everything in my life could change. Although I looked so happy all the time, being the clown..making all my friends laugh..i felt unwanted, uncherished and inadequate. I didn't know how to share my problems with others..and nobody seems to be interested in my personal life. Maybe it's because people just assumed that everything was going very well, or I was just a lucky girl who didn't have much problems.

But all was just a façade. Who doesn't have problems? Just to name a few, we had serious financial difficulties, my 3 siblings are confident, talented and smart(IQ and EQ), it really didn't make things any better that I have really, not much visible talents to being with.

And so, I surprised myself when I went forward during the altar call crying,(which is super rare as I hated being seen weak so usually it's just me and my fluffy pillows) and made the decision, to give my life to God. Anyway, I really don't have much to lose, since my self esteem was at 0% anyway. Can't get anymore worse can it?

The journey then begins. Slowly, I began to open up..my cell grp leaders and members were genuinely concerned about me and we had a lot of fun together. I met my first bestest friend, Shi Hui, someone whom I can finally, share my problems with, in church. Suddenly, it was as if I had a 2nd family. One that meant so much to me without them knowing, one that is supportive, where the older members (1-3years older) are always ready to bless us with food, knowing that we couldn't afford it. And no, they are not well to do people. In fact, those that blessed us are struggling with their own financial worries..having many siblings at home, having commitments like their own poly fees, etc.

I started to realise some similar characteristics from them. The strong faith in God that He will provide us more than enough in future, the love for people, the generous and servant heart. and that, is the DNA of the church.

Pastors preached weekly about how important it is, to be filial to our parents. How important it is, for husbands to treat the wives well, and wife, to give respect and admiration to your spouse. How important it is to excel in your studies, work and make your parents proud of you. But most importantly, to trust God in everything, because..He loves you. for who you are. not your achievements, not how much wrong you have done...not how much money you earn..

With that security and faith that God is my rock, I am transformed. I no longer feel inadequate anymore (although, still...I don't really have much talents.><) and best thing is, I don't feel unloved and unwanted anymore. I believe fully now, that someone will always love me..

During my time in SIM, I struggled with paying my school fees. Despite scoring above average grades in my first year, I faced many rejections as I tried to ask for financial help all around. I think I asked almost 8 organisations for help, but no one believed in me. I finally realised, how difficult it is... to ask people who are not related to you..for $1. It was a cruel world out there. No one will help you, if you are not successful, or if you have not proved your worth. =(

With the last resort, I decided to ask the church for help. just abit of help. to make me believe that the world is not so cruel after all. My cell grp leader, Tony, upon hearing my story, immediately helped me to take the financial aid forms, and followed up on how I was doing after that.

Soon after, I went for some interview, and the church decided to give me about $1000+, in instalment, with no strings attached. I was delighted!! Finally, there was someone who was willing to help me...

Although you can argue that the church is so rich and $1000 is so little. But, when I was so desperate, the only one that rendered help to me..was CHC!not any other organisations that said they will help the needy. This is something I will always remember.. Although it is not a lot, at least it meant a few months worth of food on the table.

Throughout my stay in CHC, nobody forced me to donate any money. I didn't receive GIRO forms, even though I am working now..I gave whenever I have, and when I didn't, I did not get reprimanded. As far as I know, unless I am some exclusive member, nobody seem to keep track on how much I give! Ok, who knows, maybe I AM special and all my church friends got tracked by their giving. Hmmm. That I don't know.

CHC is my family. It is the cause of the positive change from within, of any of my success, now and in future. Of course, the most important person to thank is God Himself!!:) I attributed all the credits to Him, but it was in this church that I met Him, saw Him working in the people, felt the love, and brought me through my difficult times.

What about the pastors? Well, nobody is perfect.. all human make mistakes, if we don't..we are not human. I am not sure how the verdict is going to be, but because Pst Kong/Pst Tan has led by example over the years, and I have learnt sooooo much practical and useful knowledge from them, I am willing to forgive and accept, even if they do make mistakes.

But for now, since the verdict is not out yet, let the law and God judge them and don't play God.

Updates on life..6months of working and counting!

August 25, 2013 0 Comments
Ok I am back to blogging!

the reason why I can happily blog in my pink room now..is because I got a new laptop! it started on Friday when I saw this hot pink Acer laptop in Challenger, and went home announcing that I am going to buy it. Unfortunately or fortunately, my mum saw this cheaper laptop on promotion the next day, and decided to get it without any hesitation.

As I have a soft spot for new gadgets my mum buys (which happens rarely because we don't usually buy gadgets)..I can't bring myself to say no to this orange laptop. And within 1 second, I have decided, ok this is mineeee!!! =D

And so what's the first thing I did to the laptop? change everything to pink! SOOO here's my laptop wallpaper, and the locked screen!

wallpaper! secret romantic desires.

locked screen wallpaper.

WHEEEEE. great..I finally have a laptop after a two years break..

ok enough about my excessive rant on a small little laptop. How have working been?

Well, life have been great after two more younger friends joined the school. with occasional dinner/movies/pubbing sessions..and lesser scolding..(pls Lord, let it remain that way!><)I don't really have much to complain. just hope one day my efforts will be recognised and I will be more than grateful. As the saying goes, do your best and God will do the rest! Totally believing in that!!

What I am looking forward to the most, is end of year bonus. WOWWW heard that it's going to be quite a lot!! can't wait..i LOVE bonus. haha I know I know, who don't?:D Did I mention 12th Sept 2013 will be the day I finish paying my uni fees? YESSSS I will finally achieve temporary financial freedom! omy i have been paying for my uni fees since 18years old, ARGHHHHHHH 6 years..it seems like I can never ever finish paying it, and now...i am almost there!:D

Ok how about love life? LOL..i have been single for one year alr!! YAY! being single has been quite fun so far, just starting to miss the hugs and holding hands, and all the sweet romantic feelings that comes with it. Haha, anyway good news! I am starting to believe a little more in rships..looking at all the couples around me..i feel that, well it might be worth it to take another risk! But, I am still praying about it, and so far, I feel Him telling me not to rush. I shall be obedient this time! Although I must admit, I yearn alot for it too! sigh. haha.

Hmmm..what else? oyes! goals! if you scroll down to the bottom, one of my goals was to lose weight.

The story started when I gained 10kg in 2012..and there went the skinny meifung..to a plump one. slightly plump..><.. lol ok I am bluffing myself. It was devastating because never in my life have I got to care about my weight. I was the girl that never gets fat, high metabolism, level 100 in eating..the one who can show off and eat as much as she wants at any outing, the one that is the envy for most girls.(ok exaggerating but you got my point)..

But all of a sudden, ppl were commenting that I grew 1.5 times bigger! and they stopped using the word skinny on me. my world crashed..and I set my heart, to eat only vegetables and fruits..for the rest of my life..

just kidding!:)

I decided to lose weight, and let me share with you the secret to losing weight. DRINK LESS SUGARED DRINKS!

within a few months of drinking only plain water from Monday to Friday, I shed quite a bit of weight! in case you are wondering, I do eat! just much lesser rice, and yes, now I do watch what I eat. No longer the food monster like before.

So I am glad to announce, I lost 7kg of weight!!! *waves and bows*

BUT...I am still not satisfied!! I aim to lose 3kg by end of the year, so I can go back to my pre-disaster period, and once again, wear all the clothes my sister and I used to share, that I sadly, couldn't fit in anymore..

This shall be my goal for now! and I shall do so by going to the school gym twice a week, with the help and motivation of a very impt person..Cheryl!! HAHHAA. now you got to help me girl. :P

lets look forward to looking like this again!

3.5 months working and counting....

June 14, 2013 0 Comments
ok so I haven't been blogging for super long, shall come to revive this dead blog.

hmm so much has happened within these few months of work...from happy to disappointed to happy again. for now.

What gives me the most headache is the politics there.. haha can't believe even in a school there can be so much going on.

However, as I am a positive person with God, I shall say that things has gotten much better because I am sitting in a new place now. Also, there is an addition of a new staff. =)

Thank God so much for everything!!!

I soooo thought I was going to die this week. Really thought the worst was going to happen because I argue and fight back with my manager last wed. But...unpredictable things always happen. Just when i thought it was a dead end.. New hope flooded in!..and...I am still alive!!

HAHA wheeeee. happy happy happy.

chatted 2 hours with my new colleague after work today and had so much fun. Felt thankful for my good relationships with colleagues. (except...ok nvm)

Hope things will continue to be good and praying that I won't make any mistakes at work. Really need divine help!!

It has always been my dream to work in a government organisation...and with the senior management taking care of our welfare (don't encourage us to work OT and promote work-life balance)..life will be really good if everyone is nice. I really want to stay 20 years in the same place ...I think I have the mentality of an auntie. because youngster don't usually like to stay in a job for long. However, I've got to see the environment too..if it is like the past few horrible weeks, then maybe I have to rethink my plans again.

Well I can't have the best of both world..soooo...shall suck things up and continue trying my best!

But for now, life's good!! Loving it. :)

hehehe shall update again soon.

Congrats to my BFF for getting into teaching! so happy for you!:)
